I started this course with a picture of a little man meditating on a computer and i can say that right now i am sitting on my lounge, laptop on my lap and comfortably knowing that i have completed the Web 2.0 course with ease.
I did complete this course a few years ago now (i think it was the first one that was run) and yes it has been updated and changed a little since i completed it then. I wanted to do this again as at the time i was teaching Kindergarten and i found it hard to incorporate many of the tools into their teaching and learning - of course i could model it but i really wanted to see the students using the tools independently. Now that i am teaching Year six, it seems everything that i have learnt from the ten modules my students are not afraid to pick up a program/tool and just experiment with it.
The tools that i have learnt are a fantastic way to help the students reach their full potential and hopefully with my help of introducing them to new tools they will want to become life long learners.
I first saw the ile@rn model a few years ago and i have tried to incorporate the skills set out in that paper. I want the students i teach to think and use tools collaboratively, to question, to evaluate, to think creatively and to reflect on what it means to be the future generation.
My only concern now is that i want to encourage my students to be responsible when using the world wide web and to know that not everything out their is safe. CyberSafety is still and forever will be a huge issue as more and more new technology will be developed.
Overall i am glad that i have completed this course with a group from my school - it gave me the chance to get to know the new staff to my school. I will continue to use the skills i have learnt from Web 2.0 in my classroom (or should i say - I will introduce and they will teach me) and encourage other staff members to complete this course next semester. Module Ten
In looking at how easy and useful Wiki's could be - i will try to use this in my classroom this term - maybe to get them to respond creatively to something???? I will need time to think about this :/ :(
One thought i did have was i would need to encourage my students to leave their name next to whatever they added or deleted to hold them accountable.

What role do you see for using Web 2.0 tools in your own life as a learner and a member of online communities?
I feel that i use Web 2.0 tools a lot in my everyday life. I have too, i need too - to keep up with the students i teach and to stay connected to the outside/technological world! I want to keep the students i teach engaged and want them to become life long learners, and only exposing these Web 2.0 tools to them will get them further in the future working world they will become accustomed too. In saying that they also need to become accountable and responsible online learners, we as teachers must encourage Technological manners, appropriateness and overall a sense of responsibility.

Module Nine
That module was great and familiar! I was first introduced to Scootle two years ago when i was teaching Kindergarten however i didnt find the learning paths very useful at that time. Now however i am teaching Year Six and the Learning paths are terrific - for every KLA! I really like Scootle!
I have to admit i am not a Twitter Fan - yes i know alot of people would say 'what is wrong with you?' but i just dont get the hype - i do Facebook and thats enough for me!!
Second Life looks amazing - however i completed a course last year and this finished it this year called 'Quest Atlantis' and it is very similiar. You can be a avatar in a 3D world, the teacher can set learning paths and learning experiences. I was thinking of trying this with a small group of year six students as a trial then maybe incorporating it next year into a KLA. Long time no talk Blogspot! Ok Ok i have been a little busy!! New grade and reports!! Very very busy! I love holidays! I have had time to check out what the staff have been doing on Web 2.0 over the holidays and comment on their progress!
Anyway, RSS feeds i had no idea what these were until now - i have subscribed to Langwitches - which is constantly being updated and having news added all the time and these updates get sent to my email account and at times take up far too much space - Google Reader is a terrific resource!! Thank you for sharing this with me! :)

Module Seven
Today i set up a Delicious account and added one of my fellow staff members / grade buddies to my account so we can share various URL's that we feel are useful for our grade. This is a good tool to bookmark websites online!
At present we use MyClasses to bookmark our website for the students but this is a great tool for staff if you wish to forward websites.
I like how you can Tag URL's under different subheadings so you when you found a website under a specific topic you save and share.....
On another topic..... Today my students started experimenting with Presi and bubbl.us - i asked them to present part of an assignment on a graphic organiser and nearly half the class wanted to do this online - of course i said yes!!

Module Six
Flickr would be a great tool to use in the classroom in many ways. Firstly, flickr can be used for Talking and Listening activities. For example infants students would be able to upload photos from places they go on the weekend or things they do with their family. School friends would be able to comment and discuss the photos. Also - i know from teaching Year Six this year students dont hand design and make tasks in on time, then suggest that they make it at home and take photos of it - they could not only pot their photos on Blogger, but they could use Flickr.
However - after investigating the copyright issues and the mention of CyberSafety issues that are in the media at the moment - with every child having their own individual account I would have to wonder what bullying issues could arise?
Also as teachers we have a responsibility to ensure the students are protected at every cost - students need to be aware of what they are putting on the internet - photos of themselves, family etc - advertising that they are going away or have just come back and recording every detail of their lives.
This is always going to be an issue, but then we have to question where do we draw the line when students are accessing these things at home - out of school hours....... The list could go on and on and on........
Always lots to think about!!! :/

Module Five - a
I tried very very very hard to embed my prezi onto my blog spot with no success!!! If you read my blog and you know how too, please feel free to enlighten me!!

Wow!! We meet again!!
Right now i have a student in my class that needs some additional ways to organise her thoughts and i have looked at websites such as Read.Write.Think and Inspiration and these are great for paper resources however i was looking for online sites. I think 'bubbl.us' would be perfect for her. I will also see if she likes 'prezi'. I would like my students to experiment with 'prezi' particularly the 'gameboard' used in the module.

Hello again, i must first start off by saying 'it is amazing what you can get done the school holidays!!!
Podcasts are terrific, i have used them in my classroom during term one with year six. So easy and fun! It is amazing what year six students can come up with. You get to know their personailities, the music they like, how creative they are and how lever they are!!
itunes is also terrific - however we havent experiemented with these in the classroom - my ideal goal sometime this year is to purchase or trial some ipod touches from MAC1 and see how useful they really are - add some itunes to these of course - i have seen they used in infants classrooms as listening post type activities - however there is always the question of equality in such a big school like mine!
I use Youtube and Teachertube where it suits - it is definitely worth previewing anything you use in the classroom!!
I am going to comment on another teacher at my school to see if she has been doing her homework these holidays!! See you!

Module Three
Hello, i made it back again! Yea!
Google Docs is amazing! It could, or should i say, will be a terrific tool for Year Six to use for collaborative writing. Even for staff for posting school awards to to the office ladies to put into the newsletter. Even for staff meetings and staff development days each group could be working on a question and see what the other group has already indicated to stop those 'The other group said my idea' moments!! Google Docs is a very useful tool! Friendly and simple to use!
The way Web 2.0 people have designed this module is fantastic! The use of atomic learning and you tube is perfect! Now the beginning/mature age teachers can refer to, particularly Atomic Learning, to teach themselves how to use software and programs. Of course i am always willing to help but it is always their for support!

Module Two
Well, well here again, not that this a chore - i love learning how i can improve my IT skills. You must truly read some interesting thoughts on Blogger!! What a thought!
I particularly enjoyed the 'Blogger - Google Privacy Tips' youtube clip... very important! I am currently teaching year six after three years in Kindergarten and it is amazing how easily they pick things up. In my class we are currently researching invasive species and Antarctica. They have recently discovered that everytime you type in something as simple as 'invasive species' into a google search they immediately get everyones blogs and wikis who have mentioned those two key words - i have now not only taught them to 'Advance Search' on Google but helped them realise that some people do not set their settings appropriately.
I will start looking at using 'blogspot' in my classroom and encouraging them to change the setting to only viewable by class members or certain email addresses - maybe in the future this will stop the above mentioned problem. :)

Module One
Today i registered for an igoogle account and added lots of gadgets! I like the library, youtube and the weather gadgets! I also enjoyed looking at Atomic Learning and 'oh' the learning and to be had!! Today i also joined the Wiki! I really enjoyed listening and watching the World Wide Web video clips. Thank you for the experience!
